Safeguarding Adults and Children
Learning about the different types of abuse, how to identify signs of abuse, and how to report any concerns.
Equality and Diversity
Understanding the importance of treating everyone equally regardless of their age, gender, race, religion, or disability.
Health and Safety
Learning about the risks associated with providing care and support in a home environment, and how to minimise these risks.
Infection Prevention and Control
Learning about the different types of infections that can be spread in a home environment, how to prevent them from spreading, and how to respond if an infection is suspected or confirmed.
Covid Training
This course will help you manage the threat of COVID-19 when working with vulnerable people in a healthcare setting.
COSHH
Understanding the risks associated with hazardous substances in a home environment, how to minimise these risks, and how to respond if an accident occurs involving hazardous substances.
Personal Care
Learning about the different aspects of personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, nutrition, hydration, mobility, and communication needs.
Handling Gifts and Finances
Understanding the importance of managing gifts and finances appropriately to protect vulnerable people from exploitation or abuse.
Information Governance
Learning about data protection legislation and how to ensure that personal information is kept secure at all times.
Mental Capacity Act
Learning about the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and how it applies to providing care for people who lack the capacity to make decisions for themselves.
Lone Working
Understanding the risks associated with lone working in a home environment, how to minimise these risks, and what procedures should be followed if an emergency arises while working alone.
Dementia Awareness
Understanding the different types of dementia, their symptoms, and how to provide appropriate care and support for people living with dementia. Understanding the different approaches to caring for people living with dementia, including person-centred care, behavioural approaches, and pharmacological interventions.
Reporting and Recording Keeping
Understanding the importance of accurate record keeping in order to provide evidence of care provided and ensure that any changes in a person’s condition are recorded promptly.
Emergency First Aid
Learning about basic first aid procedures such as CPR, choking management, wound management, shock management etc., as well as when it is appropriate to call for medical assistance or ambulance service.
Effective Communication
Understanding the importance of effective communication when providing care or support services in a home environment including verbal communication techniques as well as non-verbal communication such as body language or facial expressions.
